Boarding Policies

MITTEN’S PETS TERMS AND CONDITIONS

We are so excited to have your fur baby or fur baby's stay with us! To ensure Mitten’s Pets Cat Boarding exceeds best practices, booking with us means you will be agreeing to the following terms and conditions:

Please thoroughly review our policies before requesting a reservation. The below is for your pets safety and our business integrity.

1.

We reserve the right to deny admittance to any cat with recent or serious health issues or significant special needs. Please give details of your cat's needs in advance.

2.

Unaltered cats over the age of six months cannot stay at Mitten’s Pets.

3.

No cats will be accepted if they show visible signs of illness e.g. weepy eyes, sneezing.

4.

No responsibility will be accepted for loss of personal property e.g., collars, bedding, etc.

5.

Mitten’s Pets may take photos and videos of boarding cats and use them in print form, online, or for promotion.

6.

REQUIRED VACCINATIONS

All guests must be up to date with rabies and FVRCP vaccinations. Titer test accepted. Cats need to have a current Rabies vaccination (or vet release from it) and must have received an FVRCP vaccination within the last three years (or vet release from it).

The FVRCP vaccine helps protect against the following:
  • Feline viral rhinotracheitis (FVR)                                                                                                                                                          An upper respiratory infection in cats, also known as feline influenza, and caused by the feline herpesvirus 1 (FHV-1).
  • Feline calicivirus (FCV)
Another common viral cause of respiratory infection in cats.
  • Feline panleukopenia virus (FPV)
More commonly known as feline distemper, and caused by the feline parvovirus.

We need a copy of your cat's latest vaccination certificate for our files.
Please email a copy prior to check in or upload into your pet parent portal when registering online.

         Senior Guests:
If you have an elderly cat(10 years and older), we do require a boarding release form to be completed by your vet along with our required vaccinations. If no blood work has been completed within 2 years, verification sent to us as well.

7.

FLEAS AND TICKS

All cats must be on flea and tick preventative. If fleas or ticks are found, you will be charged for a medicated flea bath.

8.

COAT CONDITION

Cats need to be comfortable and in good condition. If you bring your cat to us matted for boarding, you have the choice of getting your cat groomed for a comfortable stay or finding a different boarding solution. Mats pose a health risk and are incredibly painful for your cat.

9.

SENIOR CATS

We welcome senior cats here! We do require a complete health and wellness statement from your vet that boarding is a safe option prior to a stay.

10.

HEALTH AND MEDICAL TREATMENT

  • If it is necessary for a guest to have veterinary attention, owners are liable for all expenses.
  • In the event of a medical emergency, Mitten’s Pets will seek medical attention from a licensed veterinarian.
  • In the event of serious illness and the owner cannot be contacted, the veterinary surgeon’s decision will be final.

  • Medication Routine & Fees Are as Follows:
Prescription Medication - $5 per administration.
We do not give Injections or Subcutaneous Fluids.

Medications will be provided by the cat owner in the original container, labeled with veterinary information and directions.
ALL Medications are administered from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm only.

Please Note
If kitty is on a complicated medication schedule that is life-sustaining, or your kitty is known to become upset in an unfamiliar place, please board at your vet or with an in home sitter– it is far safer for kitty to be under vet care.
We are not vets.

11.

TRANSPORTATION

All cats MUST arrive in a secure carrier. If multiple pets are staying, they must arrive in individual carriers. No cardboard boxes, and please, do not carry cats into hotel in your arms! Cats without carriers or multiple cats to a carrier will be charged for a new carrier.

12.

WHAT TO BRING

  • REQUIRED:
Food – Because it’s so important not to subject any pet to a sudden diet change, we ask that each cat arrive with enough food to last their entire stay. If they run out of their normal food during their stay, we will purchase their normal food and that expense will be added to your pickup bill. You can provide detailed feeding instructions to us, and yes, we’ll take the time to mix in wet food or add a treat if that’s what your cat likes!

  • RECOMMENDED:

You are welcome and encouraged to bring a few of your kitty’s home comforts such as blankets, favorite toys and treats.  (smells like home = good!)

13.
