Green Flag Alert: Why "We Weren’t Able To…" is a GOOD Thing!

Ever had your groomer say, “We weren’t able to finish Fluffy’s groom today”? Before you get frustrated, here’s why this is actually a GREEN FLAG in pet grooming!
  • Your Groomer Prioritizes Safety – If a pet is stressed, overly anxious, or uncomfortable, forcing a groom can be dangerous for the pet and the groomer. A good groomer knows when to pause or stop.
  • They Respect Your Pet’s Comfort – Grooming should be a positive experience! If a groomer stops, it’s because they don’t want to create a fear-based association with future visits.
  • They Want to Build Trust, Not Fear – Sometimes, pets need shorter, positive sessions to build confidence. A patient, ethical groomer will work with your pet’s pace, not against it.
  • They’re Honest With You – A groomer who tells you, “We weren’t able to finish because…” is one who truly cares. Transparency means they’re prioritizing your pet over rushing a service.
  • They’re Thinking Long-Term – A pet who has a traumatic grooming experience may refuse future grooms. Stopping before it gets too stressful means future visits will be easier and safer.
  • What You Can Do: If your pet struggles with grooming, talk to your groomer about a gentle introduction plan, possible prescription medication, desensitization techniques, or even pre-grooming training at home!
